Sergei Rachmaninoff is considered to many lot as one of the last, if not the last, true link to nineteenth century Romanticism in practice of medicine paternity. He was know for his stern manner, huge hands that helped in his quietly playing, and for his few, entirely exciting compositions. Many at the epoch he was bouncy did not like his music because they thought he was foot modern composition, but the remaining romantic composers and fans of romantic music praised his works. To this day the last great romantics pieces be played and loved by many.
Born 1 April, 1873 in Semyonovo, Russia, Sergei Rachmaninoff was the son of Vasily and Lubov Rachmaninoff. His mother Lubov gave him his earliest piano lessons as a child. Anna Ornatskaya was Sergeis first experienced piano teacher. His family was troubled financially because of his father who loved to spend money. They owned more than one house when he was a child but to begin with he was even ten years old they had muddled some of their money. They had to sell their last house in Oneg and come upon to St. Petersburg, where Sergei received a scholarship to a conservatory. It was around this time when the diphtheria epidemic hit St. Petersburg. Sergeis sister Sofia caught the disease and died at an early age.



Not long after her death Sergeis parents divorced and Lubov took custody of the three remaining children. In 1885 Rachmaninoff failed miserably in all of his classes at school and his mother locomote him to a school in Moscow. This is where he began to really testify his true musical abilities. He studied piano low Nikolai Zverev who pushed him to be the great piano player he knew he could be. He also took lessons from Alexander Ziloti, who was a former piano student of Franz Liszt.
