Corporations: mountain or Something Different
Elections in todays epoch are very difficult to win. A fecal matterdidate has to be a certain age, bear certain citizenship and defiantly have a very deep wallet. A trend has started to light about by whoever receives and spends the most money, they will be the superior. In the 2008 presidential race, President Obama received a total of 745,736,373 million dollars for his run at office while Senator McCain raised unspoilt 219,591,051 million dollars. Therefore, since Obama raised more money, he was the winner for the 2008 election. So where does all this money come from? In the middle 1970s, plentiful gifts remained the principal source of party and candidate support until the mid 1970s (Wayne 35). In 2008, in the top 8 contributors to Barak Obama and his campaign, 6 of them where corporations totaling for over 5 million dollars. By the trend that has been set, whoever can raise the most money will be the winner and corporations are the top donators to candidates. Shouldnt corporations not be allowed to interject with political elections and tip them in their favor? The supreme romance in 2010 didnt think so, in the case Citizens united vs.



FEC, corporations convinced the supreme court that they should be protected by the first amendment and to put a cap on the summation a corporation could donate would violate this amendment. Because corporations have maiden Amendments rights, the corporations can control elections and candidates through finance and as a result the interests of the people arent being represented.
We first started to move back our control of democracy around the 18th century when professions were small and did not have many employees. and then people invented the corporation, these legal businesses exist independently from the people who sustain them.
