Russia has been identified, not just as an emerging trade however as an emerging super-power. Despite not having as a great deal foreign investment as other emerging markets, Russia has seen a distinct spurt of economic growth since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and is now the worlds third largest exporter of steel (CIA, 2012). In terms of GDP, Russia is 89th in the world in terms of actually growth rate at a respectable and ever- climb 4.3% in 2011 and the GDP per capita has been steadily rising since 2009 resulting in an expanding middle-class.
The eBay application in Russia has seen success so far, but some societal and ethnical challenges have hindered its success. There has been an identified aging population in Russia with the average age of a Russian person macrocosm 38.5 years. This could be an issue for the eBay app as it could reduce the number of smartphone gross revenue and hence the platforms available for eBay to target. Also, there is a history of spartan government corruption and crime within the federation. This could impact the apps popularity and availableness if the government made the decision to boycott or not endorse it. There are, of course, other more trivial problems for eBay in their application to Russia; the struggle to find a suitable logistics provide and the need to create a Russian variant of the app format.



However, the rising income of the Russian population and the increasing number of educated individuals plays to eBays market and could be considered to contribute to 82% rise in Russian users in 2012 (The Runet, 2012).
